Two youth supporters of Kukutza judged

Ertzaintza arresting people in Kukutza
At the end of the 2011, Kukutza (a gaztetxe or squatted building where people of different ideologies mainly youth work in favour of an alternative project) was evicted by Ertzaintza (basque regional police) violently. There were dozens of injured people and Ertzaintza used violence against all the supporters of Kukutza and neighborhood residents. Anti-riot ertzaintza used tanks and special units during the eviction. Finally, the building was evicted (there was resistence) and destroied. Only a ertzaina was jugded by using "excessive violence" and still he had not been judged.

Nowadays, two youth supporters of Kukutza are going to be judged. According to Topatu, they were accused of "public disorder" and authorities require for them 22 months of imprisonment. Dozens of people have supported them in front of the court.

There are still a lot of pending judgments linked with the eviction of Kukutza. For example, a group of youngs are going to be judged the next year and authorities ask for them 18 months of imprisonment. They enclose themselves inside the squatted building when Ertzaintza was trying to enter in it.
