Repression against basque youth movement continues

Eight basque pro-independence youth were sentenced by the Spanish Supreme Court to six years in jail yesterday by their political work as members of Segi (Segi was a basque pro-independence and socialist organization). After the sentence, hundreds of people (2.000) marched in solidarity with them in Donosti (Gipuzkoa south basque country).

"Segi" was an important basque young revolutionary organization. It auto dissolved on 2012 after a process of reflexion. Segi had thousands of members in all south basque country. Hundreds of them were arrested (tortured and imprisoned) by french and spanish occupation forces (it is outlawed in south basque country).

Nowadays, the basque youth movement continues organized in north basque country and south basque country with new organizations.
