A marriage judged

One of the injured during that arrests
The trial against a marriage started yesterday in the spanish "Audencia Nacional" (a special court created to fight against basque struggle). Spanish authorities require 1.5 years of imprisonment against the couple and other 2 years and 8 months for the man (Joseba Garaialde). They are accused of "glorify terrorism" and Joseba is accused also of punching a police agent during his arrest.

On 2010, spanish police and Ertzaintza (basque regional police) arrested some members of Askapena (an internaliolist organization that supports world's struggles). During that arrests, Joseba Garaialde and Garbiñe Etxaburu participated in a protest against the repression. The marriage have a close relationship with one of the arrested.

During the protest, agents of Ertzaintza appeared identified the participants of the protest. Spanish authorities accused them of shouting "ETA, mátalos-ETA, kill them" when they were being identified. The Ertzaintza tried to arrest Garbiñe and at that moment (always according to police) Joseba Garaialde tried to stop the arrest punching the agents. Joseba Garaialde is 66 years old.

According to Joseba Garaialde, some agents of police beated him when he discussed with them. Agents used extendable batons (very dangerous). Joseba Garaialde showed some photos of his injures during the trial.
