Strike in education: Nafarroa

Spanish police attacking basque students in Iruña
Thousands of students supported yesterday the strike in Education system in Nafarroa (south basque country). The strike was organized mainly by Ikasle Abertzaleak (basque pro-independence and leftist students organization) and in the public university with the support of anarchists.

According to different media, in the institutes, schools and professional training institutes most of the students supported the strike. In the public university of Nafarroa, the support has been less.

There were not important incidents. One of the main avenues of Iruña was cut with burning tires and dumpsters on the morning. During the main demonstration, three students chained themselves to the doors of a bank. Foral police (Nafarroa regional police) identified them and had a violent attitude. After that, some students tried to go out of there, police attacked them injuring some and arresting one.

At the final of the main demonstration, hundreds of students went to the main barracks of spanish police in Iruña to require the release of the arrested student. Spanish police used rubber balls and batons against the students when they were protesting in front of the barracks.
