Batasuna announced it dissolution

The political party Batasuna announced yesterday its dissolution in Baiona (Lapurdi north basque country).

Maite Goienetxe (left in the photo) and Jean-Claude Agerre (right in the photo) announced yesterday in Baiona the decision of Batasuna of dissolving after 11 years of work.

According to them, a new age have started in the basque country and this new age needs new tools. Different organizations of Abertzale left have announced also their dissolution recently: Segi (the young organization), Askatasuna (anti-repressive organization) and Ekin (ideological organization). Now, Abertzale left is creating a new political party (Sortu) and different young groups are participating in the creation of a new basque youth revolutionary organization ("ZukGura" process).

They have remembered bad times like arrests, bank accounts closing, prison for their militants etc. But they have also remembered all the steps that they made in favour of national construction and union of pro-independence people. According to them, in north basque country the situation have also changed after the agreement between different "abertzale" (pro-independence) and leftist.

When a journalistasked if they have taken steps to integrate into Sortu (the new political party of Abertzale left) they have indicated that the different militants of Batasuna will decide if they want to be militants of Sortu.
