Basque unions denounce criminalization of their work

ELA, LAB, ESK, STEE-EILAS, EHNE and HIRU basque unions denounced yesterday the criminalization of their work. According to them, during the general strike of 27 January on 2011, a group of picket was denounced by Ertzaintza and now there are 18 people processed.

"We have said a lot of times that we do not accept the social and economic model that they want impose to us"

"The attitude that we have against the economic crisis, have consequences. Economic and politic power do not forgive." 

During the general strike, Ertzaintza (basque regional police) identified a group of picket. Now, 18 people are going to be judged and the prosecutor asks for them 3 years and 9 months of prison and 6.000 euros of fine.

"The capital and the institutions do not conform with crushing our rights and with cuts, they do not want any reply to their impositions, they want social peace and submission"

They have asked to stop the trial and announced a protest in support of the people judged.
