5 arrested after a protest against spanish military

According to naiz, five militants of KEM-MOC have been arrested after an action against a spanish military exposition in Bilbo (Bizkaia south basque country).

The five activists were chained to military vehicles. They have protested against Spanish army actions in the past and in the present. They have also said that they do not accept an institution like the army.

After that, the Ertzaintza (basque regional police) have appeared and arrested them. They are charged with disorderly conduct.

Thousands of people support independence in Durango

Thousands of people supported yesterday the demonstration in favour of basque country independence in Durango (Bizkaia south basque country).

Yesterday was spanish constitution national day. Different pro-independence organizations reject that day (the day that spanish constitution was voted most of the Basque population declined or reject it).

The demonstration was organized by "independentistak" an independent basque organization that look for independence beyond basque political parties. In the demonstration there were also militants of "National Assembly of Catalonia" (a similar organization of cataluña).

"Ikasle Abertzaleak" (an association of pro-independence and leftists basque students) have also organized "herri eskolak" (people school) in different towns and cities of south basque country. In these alternative classes, they work and discuss about ecologism, feminism, repression, internationalism, history etc.

Tribute to Sara Fernandez

On 2003, Sara Fernandez was going to visit her boyfriend (a basque political prisoner) to Madrid when she suffered a car accident and died. Most of basque political prisoners, are dispersed in French and Spanish states. The average distance of Basque Country is 700KM. The dispersion of prisoners is a psychological, economic and physical cost for families. Sometimes, friends and relatives of prisoners have to pay with their lifes.

Sara Fernandez was from Iruña (Nafarroa south basque country) and recently their relatives/friends have made a tribute. Here the video:

4 young prosecuted for protesting after the death of Iñigo Cabacas

4 young are going to be prosecuted for protesting in front of Rodolfo Ares (Euskadi interior minister). They were asking justice for Iñigo Cabacas (he died when the Ertzaintza shooted a rubber ball against his head).

The four young asked for justice when Rodolfo Ares was talking at a conference of coexistence organized by PSOE/PSE.

Different social organizations have denounced that nobody has been judged by Iñigo Cabacas death, but 4 young are going to be prosecuted after a peaceful protest. The family and friends of Iñigo Cabacas are going to make a tribute the next 9 of Dicember in Bilbo (Bizkaia south basque country).

Action in support of basque political prisoners

Two activists have hung a banner and a bed on a bridge in Iruña (Nafarroa south basque country). They have asked the release of 13 basque political prisoners who are very ill. Here the video:

According to the Ombdusman of Euskadi, the use of violence in Iñigo Cabacas and Xuban Nafarrate cases is not justified.

Iñigo Cabacas was a young killed on 2012 by Ertzaintza (basque regional police) when he was celebrating a football match in Bilbo (Bizkaia south basque country). Ertzaintza appeared near of basque pubs and started using rubber balls. One of its hit Iñigo Cabacas head and then he died in the hospital.

Xuban Nafarrate, is a young that was seriously injured seriously by Ertzaintza on 2012 when he was participating in a general strike in Gasteiz (Araba south basque country). According to their family, Ertzaintza attacked them without any reason with batons and rubber balls. One of these rubber balls hited Xuban and he fell. After that, some friends tried to help him but Ertzaintza beated them and then introduced pamphlets in Xuban's mouth. He had a surgery in his head after that.

The Ombusman had also critized to Euskadi's interior structure because it has not collaborated in the investigation. According to them, an independent investigation should be started.

Different protests in south basque country

Thousands of people have protested in the different capytals of south basque country. These demonstrations have been called by basque trade unions in their struggle against precarious employment, unemployment, evictions etc. According to naiz, in south basque country there are more than  222.000 of people without employment.
